Reflective Practice

The House of Compassion values Reflective Practice as a key component of safe and ethical practice with victim/survivors. The House of Compassion offers the development and facilitation of Reflective Practice for your workforce, delivered as either single-session or ongoing journey of professional development.
"The purpose of supervision is to set up reflective dialogues through which we learn from the work we do" (Michael Carroll)
Led by experienced facilitators who understand unique challenges of vicarious trauma, each session is a confidential, non-judgmental space where staff can share experiences, process complex emotions, and develop new insights. Through thoughtful discussion and guided reflection, staff will begin to see their work—and their role within it—with renewed clarity.
"Reflection is the process that turns information and knowledge into wisdom" (Michael Carroll)
The House of Compassion approach is grounded in evidence-based reflective models and uses models such as 'The Bells that Ring'. The House of Compassion facilitators are trained by the Bouverie Centre and the Australian Association of Social Workers. Compassion Consultants can focus on ethical dilemmas, emotional resilience, systemic pressures, and the interpersonal impact of the work. It’s a chance to make sense of the moments that stay with staff long after the day ends.
Reflective practice is not just about support - it is about growth. By engaging in regular reflection, practitioners strengthen their critical thinking, improve practice outcomes, and build emotional intelligence. These sessions help build a more confident and self-aware practitioner.
The House of Compassion Reflective Practice sessions are designed to empower practitioners at all stages of their careers. Whether newly qualified or experienced professionals, our structured yet flexible sessions offer a powerful opportunity to step back from the day-to-day and connect with purpose, peers, and selves.
The House of Compassion Supervisors hold; excellent communication skills, ethical integrity, honesty, empathy and of course compassion. All Reflective Practice is founded on strong, safe and respectful relationships.
Make reflective practice a meaningful part of your professional journey and build lasting resilience.
